About this role

Role & Responsibilities

Design, implement, and maintain reliable, scalable, and highly available production systems across cloud and distributed infrastructure environments.

Define and implement Service Level Indicators (SLIs), Service Level Objectives (SLOs), and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to measure and improve service reliability.

Develop automation tools and frameworks to reduce operational toil, improve engineering efficiency, and minimize manual intervention.

Build and maintain monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting solutions using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry.

Manage production infrastructure and containerized workloads using Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.

Lead incident response activities, troubleshoot critical production issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures.

Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation to improve release reliability and reduce deployment risks.

Implement high-availability architectures, fault-tolerant systems, disaster recovery strategies, and backup procedures.

Analyze system performance, capacity, resource utilization, and scalability to identify bottlenecks and optimize infrastructure.

Conduct post-incident reviews and blameless postmortems, tracking corrective actions to prevent recurring failures.

Establish and manage error budgets, reliability targets, and operational readiness standards in collaboration with development teams.

Implement chaos engineering and resilience testing practices to validate system behavior under failure conditions.

Strengthen infrastructure security by implementing access controls, vulnerability management, secrets management, and compliance best practices.

Optimize cloud infrastructure costs while maintaining performance, availability, and reliability requirements.

Participate in on-call rotations, incident escalation, operational reviews, and production readiness assessments.

Collaborate with software engineering, DevOps, platform engineering, and security teams to improve system reliability throughout the software development lifecycle.

Mentor junior engineers, conduct technical reviews, and promote reliability engineering best practices across the organization.

Preferred Candidate Profile

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

5 to 10 years of relevant experience in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), DevOps, cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, or production systems engineering.

Strong hands-on experience managing large-scale production environments and distributed systems.

Proficiency in Linux systems administration, networking fundamentals, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.

Practical experience with at least one major cloud platform, such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.

Strong expertise in containerization and orchestration technologies, particularly Docker and Kubernetes.

Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and configuration management tools such as Ansible.

Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language, such as Python, Go, Bash, or Shell.

Experience implementing observability solutions using monitoring, logging, metrics, and distributed tracing tools.

Good understanding of SLIs, SLOs, SLAs, error budgets, availability metrics, and reliability engineering principles.

Proven ability to lead incident response, perform root cause analysis, write postmortems, and implement long-term corrective actions.

Experience developing CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and safe release strategies such as canary deployments and blue-green deployments.

Knowledge of high availability, fault tolerance, disaster recovery, capacity planning, and distributed system design.

Familiarity with chaos engineering, resilience testing, and automated failure recovery practices.

Understanding of cloud security, identity and access management, secrets handling, and infrastructure compliance.

Ability to identify and eliminate operational toil through automation and process improvements.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Ability to participate in on-call rotations and manage high-priority production incidents effectively.

Experience mentoring engineers, driving reliability initiatives, and influencing system architecture decisions is highly desirable.

Relevant cloud, Kubernetes, DevOps, or SRE certifications are an added advantage.
