Senior Chief Engineer – Traffic Management Centers Dubai

A new opportunity is available for a Senior Chief Engineer – Traffic Management Centers who is ready to take the next step in their career. In this role, you will prepare and execute incident and event response plans using iTraffic, and provide technical input on tunnel operations and SCADA.

In addition, you will analyse traffic data to identify congestion patterns, conduct corridor performance evaluations, and validate signal plan accuracy. You will also support the Dubai ITS Center (DITSC) Center of Excellence. The role requires 9 to 12 years of experience.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy and Innovation

Contribute to the review and refinement of iTraffic’s Expert Module rule-based response plans with system developers.

Support the setup of the Dubai ITS Center (DITSC) Center of Excellence through applied technical inputs and system documentation.

Participate in foresight and innovation initiatives by piloting advanced ITS and TMC applications and preparing related technical reports.

Assist in evaluating ITS project benefits, focusing on ROI, performance metrics, and alignment with RTA‘s mobility objectives.

Ensure compliance of technical deliverables with ISO, NTCIP, AGF, MUTCD, and C-ITS standards through applied engineering review.

Contribute to the advancement of traffic engineering strategies through the application of artificial intelligence, data-driven analytics, and predictive modelling frameworks.

Support the preparation of smart infrastructure to accommodate emerging technologies, including cooperative and connected mobility systems.

Ensure technical initiatives remain consistent with RTA’s digital strategy and Dubai Government‘s directives on digital transformation.

Operations

Prepare and execute incident and event response plans using iTraffic; provide technical inputs on tunnel operations and SCADA guidance.

Perform traffic data analysis and modelling to identify congestion patterns and propose short- and long-term engineering solutions.

Conduct corridor performance evaluations, compute MoEs, and validate traffic signal plan accuracy.

Monitor consultants’ deliverables on traffic control projects, providing technical feedback and reporting progress to supervisors.

Coordinate with stakeholders, contractors, and agencies to support operational initiatives and technical integration.

Provide supervisory oversight of traffic incident and event management activities, ensuring alignment with safety objectives and operational resilience standards.

Embed cybersecurity requirements into the engineering review and validation of intelligent traffic systems and tunnel management technologies.

Product and Process Improvement

Draft and update SOPs, risk registers, SLAs, and incident management protocols for TMC operations.

Conduct training sessions for TMC staff on ITS systems, SCADA applications, and traffic engineering practices.

Support benefit-realization assessments, operational audits, and system performance improvements for ITS projects.

Review application of operational safety and governance frameworks, recommending technical improvements in TMC processes.

Promote continuous improvement of technical processes by applying global best practices, data-driven methodologies, and research outcomes into engineering workflows.

Contribute to institutional learning by developing frameworks for operational audits, benefit realization reviews, and applied research activities.

Physical Working Conditions

Conduct frequent site visits to evaluate roadway conditions, signal operations, and tunnel systems.

Ensure strict compliance with QHSE requirements during field activities and TMC operations.

Qualifications and Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Transportation Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Systems Engineering. Master‘s degree or Ph.D. in Intelligent Transportation Systems or Traffic Management preferred.

Experience: 9–12 years of experience.
