💼 Level: Mid-Level to Senior

We are seeking a technically proficient and detail-oriented Building Envelope Engineer | Façade Design Specialist to develop, evaluate, and coordinate high-performance building envelope and façade systems for commercial, residential, industrial, and mixed-use developments. This role combines façade engineering, building physics, material selection, structural performance assessment, waterproofing design, and construction coordination to ensure building envelopes meet functional, aesthetic, safety, and sustainability requirements.

The successful candidate will collaborate with architects, structural engineers, contractors, façade fabricators, specialist consultants, and project managers to deliver durable, energy-efficient, weather-resistant, and visually appealing building envelope solutions. The ideal candidate possesses strong engineering judgment, sound technical knowledge, and the ability to translate architectural concepts into practical, compliant, and buildable façade systems.

🎯 Key Responsibilities

Develop and review building envelope designs, façade systems, curtain walls, cladding assemblies, glazing systems, and external wall components.

Translate architectural concepts and project requirements into technically feasible façade engineering solutions.

Perform preliminary engineering assessments to evaluate façade performance, constructability, durability, and compliance.

Coordinate façade design development with architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and building services teams.

Assess wind loads, dead loads, thermal movements, deflection requirements, and other relevant design considerations.

Support structural calculations and engineering assessments for façade components, brackets, anchors, mullions, transoms, and supporting systems.

Evaluate façade materials, including glass, aluminum, steel, stone, precast concrete, composite panels, and high-performance insulation systems.

Develop façade details, technical drawings, design specifications, material schedules, and engineering documentation.

Review shop drawings, fabrication drawings, installation details, and technical submissions prepared by façade contractors and suppliers.

Assess air infiltration, water penetration, thermal insulation, condensation risk, and overall envelope performance.

Develop design strategies to improve weather resistance, airtightness, watertightness, thermal efficiency, and acoustic performance.

Coordinate waterproofing details at joints, interfaces, parapets, balconies, roofs, windows, and façade penetrations.

Evaluate thermal bridging, solar heat gain, glazing performance, and energy efficiency in collaboration with building performance specialists.

Review fire safety considerations relating to external wall assemblies, cavity barriers, insulation materials, and façade interfaces.

Support the selection of façade systems based on performance requirements, lifecycle costs, aesthetics, maintenance needs, and project budgets.

Conduct design reviews to identify technical risks, interface conflicts, installation constraints, and potential performance issues.

Coordinate with façade consultants, specialist subcontractors, manufacturers, and suppliers to resolve technical design challenges.

Prepare technical reports, design calculations, compliance documentation, and recommendations for project stakeholders.

Participate in design coordination meetings, technical workshops, and value engineering exercises.

Support façade mock-up development, laboratory testing, and on-site performance testing where required.

Review test results for air leakage, water penetration, structural performance, thermal performance, and other specified criteria.

Assist with the investigation of façade defects, water ingress, sealant failures, cracking, corrosion, and material deterioration.

Recommend corrective actions and repair strategies based on technical assessments and observed site conditions.

Conduct site inspections to verify installation quality, workmanship, material compliance, and adherence to approved drawings.

Monitor façade installation progress and coordinate technical clarifications with construction teams.

Review proposed design changes, substitutions, and alternative materials for technical suitability and compliance.

Support the preparation of tender documentation, technical scopes, material specifications, and façade-related cost assessments.

Evaluate supplier proposals and technical submissions against project specifications and performance requirements.

Incorporate sustainable design principles, including energy conservation, material efficiency, durability, and reduced environmental impact.

Maintain accurate records of design revisions, engineering calculations, technical queries, inspection findings, and approval status.

Identify opportunities to improve façade design methods, construction detailing, quality assurance, and building envelope performance.
