General Manager Business Development
Mediterranean Gate Business and Trading LLC
Role:Group Business Development Manager
Mediterranean Gate Business & Trading | Muscat, Sultanate of Oman | Full time
ABOUT US
Mediterranean Gate is a Muscat-based group working in building and finishing materials. Its units:
Best Choice Ceramics: ceramics, porcelain, sanitary ware and accessories, in the Omani market since 2012, with showrooms and an online store
Casalux: a new luxury showroom for Italian finishing materials in Muscat
Al Raqi: natural and industrial marble and made-to-order pieces
MG Finishing: contracting and execution of finishing works, from material supply to final installation
MG Distribution: wholesale distribution and market access for international brands
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a senior leader who reports to the CEO and leads the managers of the five units. You will own growth, profitability and discipline across the group: you set the targets, take decisions within a clear delegation of authority, and build the systems that make results repeatable. The role comes with a written path to Group Executive Director, based on results.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Strategy and planning
Build a 3-year group strategy, and an annual plan and budget for each unit
Study the Omani market (segments, competitors, pricing, upcoming projects) and set each brand's positioning and price policy
Prepare feasibility studies for new branches, brands, agencies and partnerships
Best Choice Ceramics: market share and performance
Grow market share with numeric targets per showroom and per channel: retail, contractors, projects and online
Improve the product range, pricing, margins and stock turnover, and clear slow-moving stock
Develop the sales team, sales procedures, quotation follow-up, collection and after-sales service
Casalux: presence in the luxury market
Lead the launch and position Casalux as Oman's first destination for luxury Italian finishing materials
Reach clients who buy at this level (villa and palace owners, developers, high-end consultants, designers) through relationships, private events and partnerships, not discounts
Protect the brand: client experience, personal service, display quality and discount discipline
Al Raqi and MG Finishing: operations and productivity
Set written operating systems from order intake to delivery and collection
Measure and raise productivity, capacity use and cost per piece or project
Control project pricing and margins, delivery dates, quality and site safety
MG Distribution: wholesale growth
Build the wholesale network: coverage, dealers, credit terms and pricing
Bring in new international brands and review the profitability of existing ones
Keep stock, logistics, credit and collection under control
Across the group
Build a complete offer for villas and projects: materials, marble and special pieces, installation
Build the project channel: developers, contractors, consultants, government and semi-government tenders
Negotiate exclusive agencies and better terms with international suppliers
Drive full ERP use, monthly dashboards, written policies and a group risk register
Follow each unit's P&L, working capital, collections and cash flow with Finance
Lead, assess and develop the unit managers, build succession plans and meet Omanisation ratios
Run a weekly operations meeting and monthly unit reviews, and report monthly and quarterly to the CEO
REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, finance or a related field; an MBA is a strong plus
10+ years of experience, including at least 5 in a leadership role with P&L responsibility (general manager, business development manager, division or branch network manager)
Experience in building materials, ceramics and sanitary ware, finishing, contracting or luxury retail; a mix of retail and projects is preferred
A documented track record in numbers: sales growth, market share gains, better profitability, launching a brand or branch
Experience managing more than one unit or company at the same time, and building systems from scratch
A strong network in Oman or the GCC: developers, contractors, consultants
Experience negotiating with European suppliers (Italian and Spanish preferred) and handling exclusive agencies
Strong financial skills: budgets, P&L, cash flow, project pricing, working capital
Hands-on experience with ERP systems and performance dashboards
Fluent Arabic and English, spoken and written
Valid driving licence
WHAT WE LOOK FOR

TERMS
Full time, Muscat head office, with weekly field visits to showrooms, workshop, sites and warehouses
Travel inside and outside Oman to suppliers and international fairs
Reports to the CEO; the five unit managers report to you
Annual incentive linked to performance
A written three-phase career path to Group Executive Director, based on results
