Corrosion Engineer / Materials Engineer
Black Women in Business Analysis
Role:Role DescriptionWe are seeking technically proficient, analytical, and detail-oriented professionals for the positions of Corrosion Engineer / Materials Engineer. These roles focus on material performance, corrosion prevention, engineering integrity, material selection, and the reliability of industrial assets and infrastructure. Successful candidates will contribute to technical assessments, material testing, failure investigations, and the development of engineering solutions that improve equipment durability, operational safety, and long-term asset performance.
Corrosion Engineers are responsible for identifying, evaluating, and controlling corrosion risks affecting industrial equipment, pipelines, storage tanks, structural components, and other engineering assets. Key duties include conducting corrosion assessments, evaluating degradation mechanisms, reviewing inspection findings, and recommending suitable corrosion prevention and mitigation strategies. They may support the selection of protective coatings, cathodic protection systems, corrosion inhibitors, and appropriate monitoring techniques. Additional responsibilities include analyzing inspection data, investigating material deterioration, preparing technical reports, and coordinating with maintenance, inspection, and operations teams. Corrosion Engineers also help develop integrity management plans and ensure that corrosion control practices align with applicable engineering standards and safety requirements.
Materials Engineers focus on evaluating, selecting, testing, and improving materials used in engineering and industrial applications. Responsibilities include assessing material properties, reviewing technical specifications, conducting material testing, and determining the suitability of metals, alloys, polymers, composites, and other engineering materials. They analyze material performance under different operating conditions, support failure analysis, and recommend solutions to improve strength, durability, thermal resistance, and chemical compatibility. Materials Engineers also coordinate with design, manufacturing, quality, and procurement teams to verify material compliance, review supplier documentation, and support product or process development. Their work contributes to material reliability, manufacturing quality, and the optimization of engineering applications.
Both positions require strong technical knowledge, analytical thinking, and attention to detail. Professionals in these roles contribute to asset integrity, material reliability, risk reduction, and continuous improvement across engineering and industrial operations.
