We are looking for an experienced Civil & Structural Engineer to support the engineering, design review, construction support, and execution of major Oil & Gas EPC projects in the UAE. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring civil, structural, and steel fabrication works are delivered in compliance with project specifications, international standards, quality requirements, HSE regulations, and contractual obligations.

YOUR ROLE

As a Civil & Structural Engineer (Steel Fabrication), you will have the below key responsibilities including but not limited to:

Engineering Design & Review

Prepare, review, and coordinate civil and structural engineering designs, calculations, drawings, and specifications.

Review engineering deliverables developed by consultants, subcontractors, and third-party designers.

Ensure compliance with client specifications, company standards, local regulations, and international design codes.

Review structural analysis reports, construction methodologies, material specifications, and engineering calculations.

Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews, technical coordination meetings, and value engineering initiatives.

Civil Engineering Activities

Review and develop site layouts, grading plans, drainage systems, earthworks, and infrastructure designs.

Coordinate civil interfaces with Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, and Process disciplines.

Support engineering solutions related to foundations, retaining structures, underground utilities, roadworks, and industrial infrastructure.

Evaluate constructability and construction feasibility of civil works.

Structural Engineering Activities

Perform and review structural design calculations for reinforced concrete and structural steel systems.

Review foundations and support structures for mechanical and electrical equipment.

Support engineering reviews for pipe racks, substations, control buildings, powerhouses, equipment foundations, and industrial facilities.

Review steel fabrication and erection drawings and ensure compliance with project specifications and structural design criteria.

Coordinate structural loading data with Process, Mechanical, Piping, and Electrical disciplines.

Construction & Site Technical Support

Provide engineering support during construction and site execution activities.

Review RFIs, technical queries, field modifications, and engineering deviations.

Participate in site inspections, progress reviews, and technical meetings.

Ensure construction activities conform to approved drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.

Support troubleshooting and resolution of engineering and construction challenges.

Coordination & Interface Management

Coordinate engineering deliverables across Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Marine, and Project Controls teams.

Support procurement and construction teams on technical matters.

Participate in client meetings, technical reviews, and project coordination activities.

Ensure deliverables are issued in line with project schedules and milestones.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

Ensure compliance with company procedures, project quality requirements, and industry standards.

Review material submittals, technical documentation, and inspection requirements.

Support QA/QC activities, audits, management reviews, and design reviews.

Ensure engineering deliverables meet regulatory, contractual, and quality requirements.

HSE Responsibilities

Promote safe design and construction practices throughout the project lifecycle.

Participate in risk assessments, HAZID workshops, constructability reviews, and safety studies.

Identify and report engineering and construction-related safety concerns.

Support implementation of Safety-in-Design principles and project HSE objectives.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Experience

Minimum 5-8 years of relevant Civil & Structural Engineering experience.

Proven experience in Oil & Gas, Energy, Power, Marine, Infrastructure, Industrial, or EPC construction projects.

Strong background in engineering design review, construction support, and project execution.

Experience in structural steel fabrication and erection projects is highly desirable.

GCC/Middle East project experience preferred.

Experience working with multinational clients, consultants, and EPC contractors preferred.

Education and Certifications

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university (mandatory).

Master's Degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or Construction Engineering (preferred).

Professional Engineer (PE), Chartered Engineer (CEng), or Registered Professional Engineer certification preferred.

PMP or PRINCE2 certification preferred.

ISO 9001 Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor certification preferred.

NEBOSH International General Certificate and/or IOSH Managing Safely certification preferred.

Job Description

The Structural Site Engineer is responsible for the following key duties and responsibilities:

Supervise and monitor all structural construction activities on site to ensure execution in accordance with approved drawings, project specifications, applicable codes, standards, and quality requirements

Conduct regular site inspections and quality audits to verify compliance with design specifications and construction standards

Prepare and maintain comprehensive site documentation, including daily reports, inspection records, and as-built drawings

Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and design engineers to address technical issues and implement corrective actions

Monitor project schedules and timelines to ensure structural work progresses according to the approved construction schedule

Inspect materials, equipment, and structural components upon delivery to verify quality and compliance with project requirements

Oversee safety protocols and ensure all site personnel adhere to health and safety regulations and best practices

Technical Drafting & Design

Prepare, develop, and revise detailed 2D/3D technical drawings, including architectural layouts, shop drawings, structural details, joinery, and MEP-related drawings.

Interpret design drawings, specifications, and project requirements to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Coordinate with architects, engineers, project managers, and site personnel to resolve technical and drawing-related issues.

Update drawings based on site conditions, design revisions, and project requirements.

Quantity Surveying & Cost Control

Conduct site measurements, quantity take-offs, and material calculations based on approved drawings and actual site requirements.

Prepare and review Bills of Quantities (BOQs), cost breakdowns, estimates, quotations, and tender submissions.

Evaluate material specifications, monitor quantities, and assist in identifying cost-effective solutions.

Prepare variation orders, track material requirements, and coordinate with procurement for material sourcing and delivery follow-ups.

Qualifications & Requirements

Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Quantity Surveying, or a related technical field.

Minimum of 2–4 years of relevant experience, preferably within Qatar or the GCC construction industry.

Experience in fit-out works, joinery, glass and aluminum, or general civil construction will be an advantage.

Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications.

Familiarity with Revit, BIM software, SketchUp, Lumion, or 3ds Max is an added advantage.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, construction details, and project specifications.

Must hold a valid Qatar ID (QID).

About The Role

Provides direct supervision of all assigned Lab Analyst(s) at AL TAIF TECHNICAL SERVICES LLC. Performs work in the study of extracting, refining, alloying or processing metals, and in the characterisation of properties and performance of metals under conditions of use. Performs a percentage of the overall inspections/tests being conducted in the Failure and Materials Testing Laboratory (FAMTL). Assists in the preparation of test directives; monitors tests and collects test results. Prepares analyses and reports on portions of larger projects or on individual projects and presents the findings along with any recommendations. Ensures all actions are accomplished in accordance with all technical manuals, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) specifications. Ensures the process is maintained within the latest ISO 9001 Quality Management System, ISO31000:2018 Risks Management, ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System, and ISO 14001 Environmental Management System standards. .

Responsibilities

Provide direct supervision of all assigned Lab Analysts(s) within the FAMTL while serving as the metallurgical engineering expert.

Review the methodologies used in developing reliability predictions and test procedures in order to assess effectiveness.

Monitor state-of-the-art technology in the fields of reliability, maintainability and testing.

Review and evaluate data developed from tests in order to isolate problems in component design, material design, material characteristics and other factors.

Evaluate materials design, manufacturing processes and usage to determine root causes of failures and recommend changes in design, processing and any limitations of usage based on the findings.

Provide technical assistance to prototyping and Fabrication Workshop teams on problems involving chemical composition, forging and heat treatment.

Perform mechanical testing, analyse and appraise metallurgical aspects relative to vehicle and weapons systems malfunctions.

Advise the design, modelling and simulation teams on problems requiring design changes which may affect product quality and reliability.

Review weapon system specifications and make recommendations on reliability, maintainability and test specifications to be incorporated into procurement contracts.

Provide technical assistance to contracting officials on matters involving interpretation of specifications and drawings related to requirements of materials or contractor’s technical competence.

Provide consulting services to quality assurance personnel on matters concerning definition of criticality of cracks, inclusions, porosity and other defects and whether or not acceptance standards are met.

Develop and enforce acceptance standards to prevent introduction of substandard materials that might be hazardous to mission fulfilment or would jeopardise human life.

Monitor projects related to the development of non-destructive testing methods to ensure that the latest technological and scientific developments are evaluated and applied to the quality assurance system, and related inspection and test equipment.

Review technical data packages for adequacy of requirements and provide appropriate comments.

Specify the type and amount of product testing for first article, acceptance, comparison and special tests

Investigate failure reports and field complaints, analyse quality problems and prepare recommendations for corrective action.

Calculate and report estimates of the reliability and maintainability of items using data developed from testing of the stockpile sample, surveillance inspection, critical components evaluation, malfunction investigation, production and acceptance testing, and from the study of manufacturing processes.

Serve on special committees and technical working groups.

Ensure all issued tools, equipment and high-value property is maintained in a serviceable condition, routinely inventoried and safeguarded.

Develop and monitor the training of all assigned Lab Analyst(s) on all applicable processes.

Maintain the confidentiality and security of all company information.

Support other members of the Engineering Department in fulfilling their roles.

Perform other duties as required by the Metallurgist, FAMTL, Senior Manager, Engineering and Director, Engineering.

Required to report Engineering Department operational risks and follow AL TAIF approved procedures for risks

Ensure Engineering Department staff are informed about risk management procedure and have received appropriate basic risk training related to ISO31000:2018 Risks Management, and ISO 45001 Occupational Health.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor degree in Science or associate’s degree in chemistry, physics, metallurgy, or materials engineering with an understanding of metal, rubber, or resin process technologies required.

Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience in metallurgy is required.

A minimum of three to five years of experience supervising and/or managing a team is preferred.

An in-depth knowledge of material processes; understanding and experience operating failure analysis tools such as SEM, XRF and XRD; specimen preparation; and physical material testing equipment is required.

Previous military or automotive industry experience is an advantage.

The ability to interpret technical data, drawings and engineering documents is required.

A demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and make independent judgements effectively.

Knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office software is preferred.

The ability to communicate effectively in English, both in writing and verbally is required.

Have, or be able to obtain a valid UAE driver’s license.
